Suresh Raina makes bold Virat Kohli claim ahead of Bangladesh series

Raina believes Kohli can surpass Tendulkar's record

Former India batsman Suresh Raina has made a bold claim ahead of the Bangladesh series, saying that Virat Kohli has the potential to surpass Sachin Tendulkar's record of 100 international centuries.

Kohli is currently on 71 international centuries, and Raina believes that he can reach the 100-mark within the next few years.

"Virat is a phenomenal batsman and he has shown time and again that he can score runs in any conditions," Raina said.

"He is still only 33 years old and I believe he has at least five or six good years left in him," he added.

Kohli's record-breaking form

Kohli has been in record-breaking form in recent years, and he has broken a number of Tendulkar's records.

In 2019, he became the fastest batsman to reach 10,000 ODI runs, and he also surpassed Tendulkar's record for the most ODI centuries.

Kohli is also the leading run-scorer in T20Is, and he is only behind Tendulkar in the list of all-time leading run-scorers in Tests.

Raina's confidence in Kohli

Raina's confidence in Kohli is based on his own experience of playing with him.

Raina and Kohli were teammates in the Indian team for many years, and Raina has seen firsthand how determined and focused Kohli is.

"Virat is always looking to improve his game, and he is always working hard on his fitness," Raina said.

"He is also a very mentally tough cricketer, and he never gives up," he added.

Kohli's legacy

If Kohli does go on to surpass Tendulkar's record, it will be a fitting tribute to one of the greatest batsmen of all time.

Kohli has already cemented his place as one of the all-time greats, and he is sure to continue to break records for many years to come.
